This "About" page will get spiffed up before the new year arrives, but for now I thought I'd tell you a modest amount about myself.
I first thought of myself as a Buddhist in 1985, thereabouts. I was attracted to the religion for the usual reasons: It's not "belief" based; there are no absolute goals, though diminishing suffering would be nice; and Enlightenment is "out there" if you can get your game up for that.
I bring to my Buddhism some things that are not mainstream. I believe that there is "something else going on; I know not what" in the universe that is NOT "stuff" -- that is, I am inclined to believe that the physicalists and reductionists are wrong. I don't believe that mind is brain: Consciousness is too much something altogether else for a physical hunk of meat/cheese to deliver the amazing experience of being a human life form.
